Who is Mother Maria?
Early Life: Born as Elizaveta Pilenko in 1891, she was raised in St. Petersburg, Russia, and came from an aristocratic background.
Conversion: Mother Maria underwent a significant spiritual transformation, converting to Christianity and dedicating herself to serving others.
Convent and Social Work: In 1932, she founded the Convent of Saint Mary Magdalene in Paris, where she and her fellow sisters cared for the poor, homeless, and refugees.
WWII Resistance: During World War II, she actively resisted the Nazi persecution of Jews, sheltering and protecting them from deportation.
Legacy: Recognised as a saint in 2004, Mother Maria's compassionate and inclusive approach to spirituality continues to inspire people worldwide.

The Mother Maria of Paris Greek Orthodox Mission was established in 2019 to provide assistance to disadvantaged youth, families and homeless people.
